Step by Step Quick Guide on getting published at Elfwood
---------

First off, please accept our apologies - we know it is a little tricky to get published at Elfwood. The reasons for this are many, mainly its because we have a system where we moderate all content before its published. This leads to some extra steps and waiting time for you, but no worry, here's your personal guide on how to get published at Elfwood:

1. Create a user profile at Elfwood
At the top of the page, in the left corner, click the Join button and follow all instructions carefully.

If you only want to watch and comment, you're finished, but if you want to upload your own works, you need to upgrade. Continue to the next step...

2. Upgrade the user profile
  • Click the 'Profile' button at the top left corner of the screen.
  • Click the 'Tools' menu tab.
  • Click the 'Upgrade this user profile ...'
  • Click on 'All Right!'
  • Click on the area you want to join. (Note: You can join only one area - Science Fiction & Fantasy, Fanquarter, or Wyvern's Library per account/username; if you want to join more than one, you must create additional accounts.)

  • 3. Go to our special upload area (The 'Extranet')
  • Click on the 'Community' menu item in the left menu.
  • Click on 'Upload here!'

  • 4. Upload
  • Click on the Upload New Picture or Upload New Story icons
  • Click on the 'Click here to upload a NEW...' button
  • Fill out details about your material (Yeah, we need all of it)
  • In the last field, click the 'Browse' button to locate your file
  • Click the 'Upload' button
  • [[ Repeat this step several times - you need atleast 2 stories or 4 pictures!]]

  • 5. Apply for moderation - send us a Ticket!
  • Click the 'Publish Changes' button
  • Go through the process (it's several steps) - if any errors are found, you must go and fix them, then click this button again when done.

  • 6. Wait
OK, now your material is uploaded and a 'Ticket' was created. The ticket is a summary of all changes you've made, and has to be manually reviewed by a real person (A Moderator) before anything is published at the main site of Elfwood.

    Questions? Comments?

In response to Kestryn Casaria Leigh’s question about comments being replaced by "undefined," I have had a similar problem, and I’m starting to think I know what causes it. For me, let’s say I click the respond and edit button of a certain comment by mistake, and don’t wish to chance that comment. Because I made no changes to either the comment or my response, instead of clicking "save" I click the X in the top right hand corner of the comment box. Then, I go the the comment I had originally intended, click the respond and edit button, and it will either come up as "undefined," or have the same exact comment as the one I just closed out. I’m still not sure if the clicking of the X button instead of hitting save is what causes it, but that’s a pattern I’ve noticed and I’m hoping it can help at least a little. 1
